TEAM FORMAT
GROUP DESCRIPTION
Pre-Team

The Pre- Team group is composed of swimmers that are new to the sport of swimming and are not yet able to complete all four competitive strokes legally.  Their major focus will on technique, becoming comfortable in the water, and mastering all four competitive strokes while having a lot of fun.  Swimmers of this age are not required to attend any amount of practices.
The goal of the Pre-Team group is to prepare athletes for the Age Group Team. This includes making sure that all swimmers can compete at least  50 yards of each  competitive stroke legally and are prepared to spend a hour in the water during practice. Training will also include dryland training that focuses on improving balance and coordination in and out of the water. The Pre-team group will not compete in meets

Age Group Team

The Age Group Team is composed solely of swimmers age fourteen and under.  Their major focus will on technique, becoming comfortable in the water, mastering all four competitive strokes, and having lots of fun. Swimmers of this age are not required to attend any amount of practices.  However, a minimum of three times a week is recommended to make sure the athlete can maintain gains while continuing to learn, remember, and improve.
The goal of the Age Group Team is to show young athletes that swimming while challenging is also fun, rewarding, and exciting. As previously stated a majority of training will be dedicated to stroke technique, turns and starts. Training will also, include a fair amount of dry land work, flexibility training, and  swimmers should expect a moderate amount of traveling of they choose to compete in competitions.

Senior Pre or Advanced Age Group

The Senior Preparation team is composed of  advanced "Age Group" (fourteen years and younger) swimmers who are preparing to make the commitment to becoming a Senior Team member. These swimmers typically have shown the commitment and potential to train at a senior level, but are still in need of some of the aspects of Age Group Training.  For this reason swimmers in this group will spend time "floating" between the Age Group Team practices and the Senior Team practices. Thus, enabling an easy transition between the groups as the swimmer ages and matures.
The goal of the Senior Preparation Team is to prepare Age Group Swimmers for the increased demands of the Senior Team. The Senior Prep team, because of the age of the swimmers, will compete with the Age Group Team. They can expect a descend amount of dry land and flexibility training and should be prepared for a moderate amount of traveling if they choose to compete in meets.

Senior Team

Beat's Senior Team is composed of athletes of all levels of talent, commitment, goals, and interest. Any swimmer of High School age is welcome on the Senior Team and on some occasions younger swimmers that have already shown and advanced skill set, swim technique, and commitment may be invited to train solely with the Senior Team. However since swimmers age fifteen and over typically have a very different meet schedule than the younger swimmers , it is usually to everyone's advantage to keep athletes separated by age group.
The goal of the Senior Team is to help all of its members reach their own personal swimming goals. Bay's Edge Aquatic Team realizes that everyone's  a reason for swimming is different and whether it is for weight-loss, general fitness, preparation for High School competitions, or in the hopes of making the Senior ELITE Team the Senior Team is build around flexibility for the individual. The Senior Team will have the option of taking part in weight training, dryland training, and flexibility training. Senior swimmers should try and maintain 70% attendance and can expect a moderate amount of traveling for competitions if they choose to compete.

Senior ELITE

Membership onto the Senior Elite Team is by invitation only. The coaching staff will select swimmers individual based on a number of criteria. Firstly, for consideration swimmers should have obtained time standards that enable them to compete at the Sectional or National level. Secondly  and most importantly, coaches will consider a swimmer's dedication to the sport. This includes practices attendance, effort, commitment, and enthusiasm. Special consideration will be given to individuals that exemplify these qualities even if they have not reached the prescribed time standards.
The goal of the Senior ELITE team is to take each member to the pinnacle of USA swimming while preparing them for the possibility of NCAA and International Competition. Senior ELITE swimmers are expected to maintain a minimum of 85% practice attendance and make swimming a priority. Senior ELITE athletes will also take part in weight training, plyometric conditioning, and flexibility training. Senior ELITE team members can expect a fair amount of traveling for competitions.
