Our coaches feel that the swimmers are the most important part of a swim team. Each swimmer is given the same attention and consideration regardless of ability. All swimmers are instructed with respect and encouragement so their experience will be positive one. Also, Our coaches work to provide an atmosphere where all swimmers will fell good about themselves.
Our coaches feel strongly that through the swimming experience, young people will learn valuable lessons that will help them throughout their lives.

Adam L. Scott - Head Coach
Coach Adam Scott brings a wide variety of experiences and expertise to B.E.A.T. As a full time coach, he is able to dedicate all of those resources to the team and his swimmers.
Coach Adam holds a BS in Psychology with a Minor in Leadership from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA. He is also qualified as a Certified Fitness Trainer (CFT) through The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), a Level II certified coach with the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA), and a nationally ranked US Masters Swimmer.
Before coaching with Bay's Edge Aquatic Team ( B.E.A.T.), Coach Adam was a Special Operations Diving Officer for the United States Navy and later, the Youth Programs Coordinator for The City of Portland. His coaching experiences include serving as assistant Age-Group Coach with Bull City Aquatics and heading the Hope Valley Swim Club, both in Durham, North Carolina.
Coach Adam approaches his job with as much a teaching mentality as a training one. Striving to educate his swimmers on fitness, nutrition, goal setting, sports psychology and proper swimming technique, Coach Adam’s goal is to create a dynamic and evolving training environment that is enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding to his athletes while also providing guidance in how to be better both in the pool and out.
Myra "Mic " Nelson started coaching in 1988 as a summer league coach with the Corpus Christi Parks and Rec. league. In 1992 she became a USA swim coach with the Corpus Christi Aquatic Team which is now BEAT swimming.
Mic works full time as a registered nuclear medicine technologist at The Heart Clinic of Corpus Christi.
She and her husband, Pat, have three children. Timothy is a graduate of Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. Douglas is a sophomore at Clemson University studying genetics. Kimberly is a freshman at Boise State University majoring in communications.
